Jordaens and the Antique

Catalogue of the exhibition held at the Musées royaux des Beaux Arts Belgique between the 12th October 2012 and the 27th January 2013. The work of the great Flemish baroque painter Jacques Jordaens (1593-1678) continues to speak to the imagination of the contemporary viewer through the vibrancy, rich colours and virtuosity of his compositions. This publication testifies above all to Jacques Jordaens´masterly ability to depict narratives from classical literature, ranging from Satyr and Peasant to Prometheus Bound.
