Within LeWitt´s vast output, which encompassed painting, sculpture, drawings and architecture, the book focuses on his wall drawings, murals made by the artist and his assistants in Italy. Meticulous research conducted in museums, indoor and outdoor public places, galleries and private homes has resulted in an extraordinary and surprising number of more than 200 works, from the first ones painted in 1969 on the walls of the Attico gallery in Rome to the last ones executed in 2010. Straight lines, curves, stripes, flat geometric figures, pyramids, zigzags, braids, loops and inlay-work, black and white or brightly coloured, all of them bring dynamism to and enliven anonymous buildings, princely palaces, churches and rural chapels. The Santissima Madonna delle Grazie near La Morra d Alba in Piedmont, now known as the church of Barolo, is a good example. The book will contain: an introduction by Adachiara Zevi, curator of the exhibition and the book that accompanies it; the last interview given by the artist to the curator, hitherto unpublished; the complete documentation surrounding the wall drawings executed by LeWitt in Italy as well as biographical and bibliographical references. Text in English and Italian.
