Los sitios de la abstracción latinoamericana / The Sites of Latin

With 146 artworks, ranging from drawings to paintings, sculptures, and photographs, this volume focuses on simultaneous developments of abstract art in different artistic centers such as Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Uruguay, and Venezuela during the 1930s and the 1970s. It also offers a new perspective on the period, by exploring a Latin American identity on the basis of a “modernist” art.
Art historian and curator Juan Ledezma creates unexpected connections and visual analogies across generational and national boundaries, offering both an innovative approach to looking at the geometric abstract art from Latin America and an alternative way of presenting a historical retrospective.
