In the immediate vicinity of the Old and New Pinakotheks, Munich´s famous art galleries, is one of the most interesting museum buildings of the present day: the Pinakothek der Moderne. Located in the heart of Munich, it houses the State Gallery of Modern Art and the New Collection of Graphic Art, an international center for art, architecture and design of the 20th and 21st centuries. It has one of the great collections of ´classical´ German modern art, as well as contemporary paintings, sculpture, drawings, architecture, design and the applied arts.
