Let´s imagine for a moment what occurs when it´s an entire population that suddenly emigrates without moving from the spot, because the political, economic, social and symbolic system that has ruled the country for various generations changes, so to speak, overnight. The geography and toponymy will not go on being the same for long. The human landscape will also begin to change. Nomeda and Gediminas Urbonas have focused their work on grasping and making understandable the layers of meaning in which the psychological effects on society in this voyage-less emigration were lodged. In the last eight years projects such as Transaction, Ruta Remake, Druzba, Pro-test Lab or Villa Lithuania have revealed the combination of models and positions the Urbonas have organised their work with.
