Art becomes Architecture becomes Art

In 2002 groundbreaking conceptual and performing artist Vito Acconci realized his first architectural project a multifunctional gallery-event space in New York City called conTEMPOrary. Built for artist-gallerist friend Kenny Schachter, the experimental space became a laboratory for further artistic collaborations, including their latest project for ART Basel Miami 2004.

Architecture Becomes Art Becomes Architecture traces Acconci´s path from his artist´s studio to the foundation of his office for experimental architecture, Acconci Studio. The book includes a diverse group of Acconci´s projects, including the design of a skateboard park in San Juan, a bookstore for Documenta X, and urban planning in Tel Aviv.
