Mosquitoes

A delightful surprise, William Faulkner´s second novel was written "for the sake of writing because it was fun". Mosquitoes centers on a colorful assortement of passengers, out on a boating excursion from New Orleans. The title refers to a certain type of people: buzzing nonentities, boring idiots, stinging parasites. But in a telling about them Faulkner has made them as charming as hummingbirds to us, even if they are mosquitoes to one another. This engaging, high-spirited novel offers a fascinating glimpse of Faulkner as a young artist.
