Miranda July va néixer en Berkeley, Califòrnia, en 1974, i actualment viu a Los Angeles. És cineasta, actriu, performer, escriptora i artista multidisciplinari. La seva obra s´ha presentat en llocs com The Kitchen, el museu Guggenheim o el MoMA, i en dos biennals del Whitney. Va escriure, va dirigir i va protagonitzar el seu primer llargmetratge, Tu, jo i tots els altres (2005), que va rebre un premi especial del jurat en Sundance i la Caméra d´Or en el Festival de Cannes.
