For more than 70 years Jeanette Laverrière has designed furniture and mirrored objects, which have managed to attain museal status in France. The starting point for this book is the wardrobe she designed for an actress in 1947, an early example of her exploration of the possibilities of and tension between the functional object and the independent artwork. Using photographs of the work and installations, the catalogue documents room installations of the artist´s work, which has been intensely involved in the fundamental discourse on the terms art and design, applied art and functionality over the last few decades. Alongside these historical and radical installations are contributions from, among others, Tobias Rehberger with Op-Art-Camouflage - Was du liebst, bringt dich auch zum Weinen (What you love also makes you cry), a sculpture designed in the form of a café.
