Uwajima. A Private Landscape

The black and white images presented in this body of work have a solitude presence without any human figure. All photos were taken from 2008 to 2010 in Uwajima, city, Ehime ken (prefecture), Shikoku, Japan. His photography might be considered the opposite of the expressionist Provoke movement lead by Takuma Nakahira, Yutaka Takansahi, Koji Taki and Daido Moriyama. Thus, the fact that Daido Moriyama writes about Masaki adds an interesting point of view. Masaki s work is close in a way to Takashi Homma with his metaphysical and nude images. There is also a connection with the New Topographics photography with Lewis Baltz as a distant but close figure.
