The Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, born in 1907, counts as one of the great architects of the 20th century. he became well-known for his buildings in Brasilia, which combined a respect for the immediate surroundings with unmistakable, almost baroque designs. In this publication, More... noted authors analyse important and topical aspects of NiemeyerÂ’s works and the text My Architecture by Niemeyer himself is featured. His work is set in the context of BrazilÂ’s modern architectural history, and his contribution to urban planning is reviewed. The role of the landscape in his oeuvre, and his influence on recent German architecture is examined . Striking duotone photographs from the Niemeyer archives, spread over 48 pages illustrate the highlights of his architecture. This book has been published to accompany the exhibition Oscar Niemeyer which will start in February 2003 at the German Museum for Architecture (DAM) in Frankfurt.Altres llibres de Oscar Niemeyer
