Sobre John Steinbeck
John Steinbeck (Salines, 1902 – Nova York, 1968). Narrador i dramaturg estatunidenc. Va estudiar en la Universitat de Stanford, però des de molt jove va haver de treballar durament com a obrera, jornaler rural, agrimensor o empleat de botiga. En la dècada de 1930 va descriure la pobresa que va acompanyar a la Depressió econòmica i va tenir el seu primer reconeixement crític amb la novel·la Truita Flat, en 1935.
