European City Museums

This book analyses the development of European city museums, their current transformations and their potential as a response to urban and continental changes and disruptions. The book promotes a focus on what cities can achieve in Europe, stressing the role of city museums in helping citizens to understand their cities.
The book draws particularly on the experience of the Barcelona-based City History Museums and Research Network of Europe.
The chapter authors have a wealth of experience in managing European city museums, as well as academic knowledge of the ongoing changes affecting this museum sector.
